A single ball is drawn from an urn containing 10 balls numbered 1 through 10. What is the probablity that the ball chosen is an odd-numbered ball or a ball with a number less than or equal to 5?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

such numbers are 1,2,3,4,5,7,9 and there are 7 of them, so \[\frac{7}{10}\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

but it says for ODD numbers.. how does 2 and 4 odd number?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh because it says odd numbers OR a number less than or equal to 5, and both 2 and 4 fit the second bill.
