I need geometry help and more specifically I need help with question 12 and 13. http://i79.photobucket.com/albums/j123/MistyBlue2010/05-24-2011031019PM.jpg
Do I just assume that 9 is the total length so x would be half of 9?
I cant get on photobucket on my computer:/ Could you import it here?
lol, just did this sheet:D
yea? lol
nice
kay what exactly do you need help on?
12 and 13 finding x and y. For x do I just assume that it is half of 9?
and I have no idea how to find y
Ok, x is 1/2 of 9 because it is the same distance from the center as the chord with the length of 9. Each chord is perpendicular.
Then you use Pythagorean theorum to find the radius which is y.
It is difficult to read but here we go. The two drawn chords are equal in length so both are 9. Therefore x= 4.5 Q13 y is a radius which can be found from the previous answer using Pythagoras again. r squared = 5 squared + 4.5 squared...you can do the rest I think :)
thanks :)
My pleasure!
