You graph y<= -1/2x - 1 by placing a point on -1 on the y axis and then from that point go down 1 and to the right 2. (put a point there) and then go down 1 and to the right 2 and put a point there. Since it says (=) you make the line connecting the dots a solid line. Since it says < you shade below the line.

You graph y > x + 3 by placing a point on 3 on the y-axis. From that point you go up 1 and to the right 1. (put another point) from that point go up 1 and to the right 1 and put another point. Because it DOES NOT say = you put a dashed line thru the points. Because it says > you shade above that line.
