Anyone have a very clear, easy to understand explanation of how to get an inverse matrix?

an inverse has to be able to multiply to it, and by it to be valid if I recall correctly

Both responses are about what I'd expect. My TI-89 bit the dust about two months ago. I've learned some great math without it....but it requires work.

Matrix manipulations are just plain and simply labor intensive

There's a most easy way. First write down your matrix and next to it the identity matrix. Then you can use Gauß' elimination method on your matrix and on every column of the identity as absolute vector in parallel. In the there will be the identity matrix on the left and the inverse matrix on the right.

I'd really like to take you up on it, but currently have other obligations which require more immediate actions. As is, I'm pretty intense on trying to learn more math but I'm not in a class.

Thanks for the links. I'm on a public computer which is running really slow. I'm using library books to learn and multiple explanations helps. stand this computer. I'll come back later.
