subtract one from each of the parts to get: -4<4x<8 Then divide by 4: -1<x<2

i got -1<x<2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok but like how you get it i really dont get it i sort of get it

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you want to get x by it's self in the middle. so the first thing you have to do is subtract the 1. and when you subtract it, you subtract it from both sides. from the -3 & the 9. when you do that you get -4<4x<8. then you have to divide by 4 to get the x alone. so you again divide both sides, by the -4 and the 8 and you get -1<x<2. which has the x in the middle! hope this wasn't too confusing!

omg thank you i got
