It is impossible to be perfectly accurate in a biography or an autobiography, but how far can one stray from the truth? Many people continue to tell the many false stories about George Washington because they feel that the moral benefit of reading these stories is more important than the truth. When Frey was first exposed, Oprah Winfrey defended him, saying the same thing, that the inspiration and moral "truth" of the story was still valuable, even if the details were not right. Later, she changed her belief, and she strongly attacked his actions to his face on her show.

i think it depend on how or where would you be or what side are you in, either in a moral value or the truth..for me the truth will set you free as THE LORD SAID...

Technically it is impossible foe either genre. The writer, no matter how unbiased their intentions, will always project from a certain view point. For instance take the break up of the Beatles in 1970. John Lennon's biographer and he himself would present a moment in history completely different from that of the Paul McCartney camp. Biographies and indeed autobiographies are shall we say, always partisan but at varying degrees. I hope this helps you.
