box plots just frame in your quartiles rigth?
the whiskers are the outliers
like i have no idea how to find the quartiles, the page for this just won't load for me
quartiles correspond to the percentiles; if that helps :)
percentiles takes the data and divides it up into individual percents; a quartile is just 25 percentiles
spose we have just 4 data points: 34, 55, 56, 87; we find the percentile below 55 by counting the number of data points below 55 and dividing it by the number of data points
it just gets messier for large amonts of data; the ti83 helps tho
and having a normal distribution helps
So for e.x if the median of all the data is two points of the same value say their are two 31's and an even amount of data points would include 31 into each quartile or "X" them out and use the other data points from each quartile?
wish i could stay but i gotta head out; http://www.shodor.org/interactivate/activities/BoxPlot/ this might be useful
