what are organelles and what do they do?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the “body parts” within a cell

OpenStudy (anonymous):

They carry out specific functions within the cell .

Organelles are components of the cell which perform a definite function inside it. They can be compared to organs in the body or machines in a factory. There are many organells inside a cell examples are: endoplasmic reticulum, ribosomes, mitochodria, vaccoules etc

Think of the cell as a microscopic city. Like a real city it requires many services to keep it clean and running smoothly. Think of some of the services a real city needs: traffic control, waste disposal, and authority figure just to name a few. Like our imagined city a cell needs the same services. Organelles are the “workers” that provide these services. The following is a list describing the various functions of some common organelles. http://biology.unm.edu/ccouncil/Biology_

Organelles are like you stomach and stuff and they have their own specific job to do and function the body properly

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ORGANELLES BASICALLY CONTROL THE ACTIVITIES IN THE CELL OF THE BODY E.G THE MITOCHONDRIA IS THE POWER HOUSE, ITS THE SOURCE OF ENERGY. RIBOSOMES ARE WHERE AMINO ACIDS OR POLYPEPTIDES ARE ARRANGED.
