How to easily remember the difference between the two bones in the lower arm?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

fore-arm has 2 bones- Radius, Ulna. Radius is the lateral bone. Radius is stronger and heavier than ulna. Both have head, shaft and styloid process(lower part). Radial head is circular(cylindrical) like the base of a pawn. while the proximal ulna looks like a spanner(machine tool). the radial styloid is bigger than ulnar styloid. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ulna http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Radius_%28bone%29

Ulna bone: quick recognition in oral exam The Ulnar bone has a "U" at the end where it goes over the trochlea.

@MSFFL, This is how I remember it: Make a thumbs-up: this is "Rad (dude)", and corresponds to the Radial side of the arm. Even when you rotate the arm (pronate, supinate), the thumb is always on the side with the radius.

For me, whenever there are two things needs to be compared of or be differentiated, I just needed to memorize only one so that I might not get confused which of the two. Make a thumbs up: al(R)ight/okay = (R)adius.

The radius is on the side of your thumb.

Also you close your fist and pretend it's a walkie.talkie/radio (with your thumb being the antenna), so the "antenna" side is the radius
