How do you figure out the equation for a line, when only given one point of (2,5)?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you can't

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you wil get infinitely many lines passing through that point.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

since there are infinitely many like dh said

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I have a graph of the line, but can't put it up here, unfortunately...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

do you know where it crosses the y axis?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

take a picture and attach it using the attach file button | | v

OpenStudy (anonymous):

or any other point on the line?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No...it only crosses the y axis....and it does not cross it in a specific spot, like the meeting spot of 4 boxes or anything...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you use the point-slope formula and then change it to slope-intercept form

OpenStudy (anonymous):

How can I use the point-slope formula, with only one point?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh wait. you need another point to find out the slope. sorry nvm u cant.
