For right/left hand limits how do you know if its positive infinity or negative...can someone explain the steps

You can graph if you're in doubt. Also, you can make a table which approaches the limit from a number which is BIGGER than that number or one which is SMALLER. Example: limit 1 / x as x goes to zero... make a table: x = 1 x = 0.1 x = 0.001 x = 0.0001 etc... That is a "right limit" which is approaching from numbers LARGER than zero. You can do the same with a left limit. GRAPHING is probably the easiest to see, you just trace your finger on the graph from the left or right and see where it goes! :)
