factor x^2-18x+81

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[(x-9)^2\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

This would be (x-9)(x-9)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yup

OpenStudy (anonymous):

a 'perfect square because \[81=(-9)^2\] and \[2\times -9=-18\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

that was the point of your previous problem, to see if you can recognize a perfect square

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay so, how do you know if its a perfect square or not?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

if it can be writen as (x-a)^2. that means that it has been simplified because both sides were equal to eachother
