giv a question and i will explain

Example 1/2 + 1/3 The denominators are different so using multiplication you can make them the same. Like this... Multiply all the digits in 1/2 by 3 making 3/6 Now multiply all the digits in 1/3 by 2 making 2/6 Can you see that by using the denominator of the other fraction to multiply both digits you end up with 2 fractions that are equal in value to their original form but now have the same denominators. When you have a 'common denominator' you simply add the numerators and place that answer over the common denominator in this case... 1/2 + 1/3 = 5/6

thanks so much!
