HELP ME....I GIVE MEDALS! :) I'M DESPERATE BECAUSE I'M DRIVING MYSELF CRAZY!
Question? :P
graphing f(x)=-(x+1)(x-3)^2
Wow- lots of ppl on this post. Good luck, McApple!
wolframalpha.com Just type in the equation http://www.wolframalpha.com/input/?i=y%3D%286x-2%29%2F%282x%2B1%29
I've seen that but I don't understand how to get that...I don't just want to copy an answer...
Well, you have a zero at x=-1. It has a multiplicity of 1 (odd) so it goes through it. Then you have a zero at x=3. Multiplicity of 2 (even) so it just touches the axis. Then as x gets small you grow really large. Then when x gets large, you grow small. As the picture shows: http://www.wolframalpha.com/input/?i=y%3D-%28x%2B1%29%28x-3%29^2
Can you tell that from the graph? It needs a weird scale to fully see it.
thanks, malevolence19! you're always helpful!
Haha, you're welcome :D But, without calculus, you can't get much better of a sketch then what I offered. You can find asymptotes, LHB, RHB, zeros, and y intercepts without calculus. The rest of it you need calculus to get a well defined sketch.
