(x+Y) : (x-y)=4:1 so (x2+y2) : (x2-y2)=?

u hav x+y=4 and x-y=1 so u get x=2.5 and y=1.5...now substitute and so find the ratio...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeh I think u did something wrong lols

OpenStudy (anonymous):

because you square it

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you cant just pick the top to be 4 and bottom to be 1

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@elecengineer....yes but ultimately ur taking ratio again so it doesn't matter!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah i thought there was something wrong but brackett is right. why would i doubt you! since you are taking ratios again you pick any numbers that work

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeh I just tried it with differerent values for x+y and x-y

OpenStudy (anonymous):

seemed a little strange , because the ratio of the sum of the single terms are different to the ratio of the sum of sqaures

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah i thought that was the gimmick but it doesn't matter
