whats a rational #

OpenStudy (anonymous):

any number expressible as p/q where p and q are integers and q is not 0

OpenStudy (amistre64):

yeah, its any number that can be expressed as a fraction; with integers top and bottom

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i have no clue what that means

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@amistre64 I feel using the word "fraction" is not appropriate because it implies that p and q have to be positive integers only.......

OpenStudy (anonymous):

use ratio then...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

saying of the form p/q where p and q are integers and q is not zero is a better explanation

OpenStudy (anonymous):

maine kya parsi mein likha tha upar?

OpenStudy (amistre64):

hmmm ..... you might be right; but when why would a fraction only need to be +ints?

OpenStudy (amistre64):

\[\frac{p}{q};q\ne0 \] where p qne q are integers looks like a fraction to me :)

OpenStudy (amistre64):

\[\sqrt{2}\]is irrational because there is no way to write it in the form of a fraction \(p\over q\) that will give it an exact value
