What a difference 32 bit, 64 bit, 86 bit... on operating system....
dude the main difference is the amount of RAM one can handle
dude.. can be clarified..?
Therefore the ability to handle more memory makes it more efficient while dealing with processes.
So it increases the overall performance of your PC
so, larger or smaller bits that make the process optimal....
In the x86-64 computer architecture, long mode is the mode where a 64-bit application (or operating system) can access 64-bit instructions and registers. source: wiki http://developer.amd.com/pages/123200367.aspx
64 > 32 ram powerfull
The terms 32-bit and 64-bit refer to the way a computer's processor (also called a CPU), handles information. The 64-bit version of Windows handles large amounts of random access memory (RAM) more effectively than a 32-bit system.
64bits is the lenght of the instruction being processed, by instruction think of any operation, data, or data address. By processing more data, your processor becomes more efficient. By accessing larger portions of data you are able to solve bigger problems. I strngly suggest you to find out a bit more about computer architecture, a good way is to learn the history and then the improvements done over ther years until now.
psampaio s right
32bit and 64bit are the length of the instructions, and 32bit can address almost 4GB max, with 64bit length the computer can address more memory.
x86 is a set of 32bit instructions. There are a lot of things that can be said about this but you should look for a computer architecture book.
Computer Architecture: A Quantitative Approach, Second Edition david a patterson is a good book!
the higher bits of os are used for scientific purposes or something of higher use.....
this 32 ,64 are all address lines .....
the 32 64 and 128 bits refer to a couple of things , for one it gives you the amount of instructions a machine can have , example 64 bit machine will have 2^64 op codes , (2^64)-1 unique address locations it can access and the length of the operation code
