Can someone explain partial fraction Integration really quick to me?
thanks in advance
a complicated fraction is divided into partial fractions to make integration easier The denominator is factorised and foe each linear factor a single letter is set as the numeratpr eg A/x+1, for a square like (1-x)^2 two partial fractions are written eg B / 1-x and C / ((1-x)^2 and for a second degree expression like x^2 - 5 whcih cannot be factored we write Ex + D / x^2 -5. Now we multiply all terms by the LCM of denominator to get an identity with no fractions. The values of A, B C etc can be found by substituting appropriate value of x into the identity. Also we can equate denominators Now we integrate each individual fraction.
cool. Thanks
ok - try an easy - split 3x / (x+2)^2 into partial fractions. You need to practice this stuff to become proficient. by the way when you are happy plz click Good Answer to close the question.
