can someone answer this please? what would pressing a guitar chord side to side, btw the thin pieces, in small areas be called?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

is this music? or math

OpenStudy (anonymous):

music & math

OpenStudy (amistre64):

its a slur I think; when you alter a note slightly between two tones

OpenStudy (amistre64):

trombones are known for doing it with ease

OpenStudy (amistre64):

maybe called a 'bend'

OpenStudy (anonymous):

not sliding but when a finger pushes back and forth to make that elongated sound. lika a wave which about to die out. it just might be a slur

OpenStudy (anonymous):

nope, not a slur

OpenStudy (amistre64):

slur is the term id use; but a guitar slur might be the hammer on

OpenStudy (amistre64):

bending is the term I found on a guitar technique site for that tho

OpenStudy (amistre64):

if there are option to choose from; itd be helpful :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

this isnt hw. its life work.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

its not bend either

OpenStudy (anonymous):

try to visualize this:

OpenStudy (amistre64):

i really dont need to try to visualise it .... I do play guitar, somewhat :)

OpenStudy (amistre64):

a whammy bar produces the same effects, but with more power to bend the note up or down

OpenStudy (anonymous):

u have ur hand on the guitar bar, ur finger on one of the notes, and ur just moving the tip of that finger back and forth. and it makes that sound that u can find on keyboards these days.

OpenStudy (amistre64):

you bend the note when you slide your finger inside of a fret; if there is another name for it, I dont know it tho

OpenStudy (amistre64):

the wobble then right? not the bend

OpenStudy (amistre64):

vibrato?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

let me check

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yep

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the vibrato is vertical movement. is it the same for horizontal movement?

OpenStudy (amistre64):

should be, its more of a wiggle than any specific direction

OpenStudy (amistre64):

it produces slight, rapid bends

OpenStudy (anonymous):

cool. thx a lot.
