When you complete the square and divide the b- term by two, do you include the coefficient? 6x/2 Would that be 3x or just 3?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it would be 3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No, you do not include the coefficient. However, if the term is +6x, what you do is, take half the coefficient then square it, then add to both sides of the equation.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

because you are starting with \[x^2+6x+c\] \[(x+3)^2=-c+9\]

EDIT: first time using coefficient I meant to say variable ><
