How do you graph inequalities: x>=-6

OpenStudy (mathteacher1729):

Draw a SOLID vertical (up and down) line at x = -6. Then shade everything to the left of it. :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Are you sure it isnt to right because its greater than?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

What about the inequality; x-2y>4

OpenStudy (mathteacher1729):

Woah, you're right. Sorry. To the RIGHT. not to the left. :(

OpenStudy (mathteacher1729):

As for your 2nd question: 1) Graph (dotted line cuz it's > and not >= ) x - 2y = 4 2) Does the point (0,0) make the statement x - 2y = 4 true? YES = shade that side of the line NO = shade the OTHER side of the line.

What is the slope?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I dont know what x is?

OpenStudy (mathteacher1729):

You don't even really need slope to graph this. Let x = 0 and you have -2y = 4 so that means (0,-2) is one point on the line. Let y = 0 now and you have x = 4 so that means (4,0) is another point on the line. Now you just connect the lines. :)
