Explain what it means for two triangles to be similar. Given a triangle ABC and points X e AB and Y e AC such that XY and BC are parallel, show that in Euclidian Geometry ABC is similar to AXY. Draw a diagram to illustrate your argument. Does your proof rely on Euclid’s Parallel Postulate? Is the conclusion true in hyperbolic geometry?
