Find the roots of x^2-x=6 algebraically, please explain.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

(x-3)(x+2)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ok so (x-3)(x+2)=0

OpenStudy (saifoo.khan):

yeah

OpenStudy (saifoo.khan):

x = 3 or x = -2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok 1st you find two numbers which you can multiply and get 6...which are 6 and 1 ...3and 2....but you must find numbers which when subtracted you will get -1...from -x...so its 3 and 2 but the 3 must be negative.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so x=3 or -2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ohh alright thanks!
