can u help me about function and range

OpenStudy (anonymous):

if x = 2 then y = 0

OpenStudy (anonymous):

if that is the case, it is not a function because a function is for every x there is only one y value

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah, what's up?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

domain in 2 range is 0

OpenStudy (anonymous):

tell me if im wrong

OpenStudy (anonymous):

depends on the function you're working with..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

aspire: the problem is this 3x+y=6 find the domain and range and determine if its function or not

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thats what aspire sent me

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ohh okay, give me a sec.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so, y= -3x + 6 so yeah, when x=2, y=0 :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The domain of a function f(x) is the set of all x such that the function is defined. Here, the set is the entire real line (i.e. all real numbers) since y = -3x + 6 spits out a value for any x. The range is the set of all y-values that result. Here, it is the entire real line again. You can check it out graphically. The range of a function will be the projection of the function onto the x-axis, and the range will be the projection onto the y-axis.
