MIT 6.00 Intro Computer Science (OCW) 16 Online
OpenStudy (therealmccoy):

There is a new course at OCW- 6.189 A Gentle Introduction to Programming Using Python. Has anyone checked it out...I stumbled on it today...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i just looked at it and it looks cool, the projects are Hangman game, Guitar Hero clone, Tic-Tac-Toe, and Connect Four... so if you want to learn games thats a good place but i think you will be missing out on the lectures unfortunately so maybe start with this course then go there?

OpenStudy (therealmccoy):

Cool, thanks!!! I guess but more or less the stuff (apart from the assignments and projects), the tutorial would be kind of same. Intend to do it kind of parallel. Good/bad/ugly idea?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

While this might prove to be more practical, I must say that personally, I like Prof. Grimson's teaching style, and being able to actually see the lecturer explaining things make it easier for me to understand. I admit that it's an interesting course, and I'll certainly take it up later, but in my opinion, if you want to it parallel, you should try the new Intro to C++ instead (6.096). Just my thoughts.

OpenStudy (therealmccoy):

Hey Lifeburner, Thanks. I agree with you. Videos of Prof Grimson make all the difference. Is it possible to study Intro to C++ -6.096 simultaneously done by a beginner...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

By 'simultaneously done by beginner', do you mean to ask whether or not it is possible to take on both courses at the same time period, lesson per lesson, from a beginner's point of view? If so, I would say no. However, I do assume that you've made it past several lessons on the 6.00 course, and if so, it should be adequate. I'm not trying to force you on this. It's merely a suggestion. I myself am interested in C++, because by learning it, I'd be able to get a fundamental knowledge about how its derivatives (like Java and C#) works, especially the syntax. C# is the language I'm aiming at actually. The .NET is an exciting framework. That, and I'm a M$ fanboi :3

OpenStudy (therealmccoy):

@Life- Surprised to hear baout you being a M$ fan :) Thanks indeed for reverting...
