(1/2)^-2 = ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

4

OpenStudy (anonymous):

4

Hmmm,I don't think so,I think it;s 1/8,but I am not sure.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it can be seen as 1^-2/2^-2. the negative switches if it is on top or bottom. so it is also 2^2/1

OpenStudy (anonymous):

david is right the negative sign in the exponent means you will take the inverse then after that you take 2^2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[\left(\frac{1}{2}\right)^{-2}=\left(\frac{2}{1}\right)^2=2^2=4\]

jhonyy9 (jhonyy9):

sorry yes this is 1/1/4 =4

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I though that it will go like this : 1^-2/2^-2 =(1/1)/(1/4) OH! IT'S 4! haha,thanks once again! :)
