5/6x+2/3=-1/6x-5/3

jhonyy9 (jhonyy9):

5/6x +2/3 =-1/6x -5/3 5/6x +1/6x = -5/3 -2/3 6/6x =-7/3 18=-42x x=18/-42 =3/-7 = -3/7

(5/3)(x)+2/3=(-1/6)x-(5/3) In most all equations with a variable on both sides, you want to start by getting all of the same variable on the same side. So, we will look at getting x to one side then isolating it to find the answer. In this case, I will move it from the right to left. So, add 1/6 to both sides so that it cancels the x quantity on the right side and you're left with: (6/6)x+2/3=(-5/3) Then we can begin to isolate the variable by moving 2/3 to the right side. So, to cancel it from the left, we subtract 2/3, giving us the problem (-5/3)-(2/3). Since they have the same denominator, we can subtract the numerators of the two. When you do that, you'll get Since 6/6 can simplify to 1, you get x=(-7/3)
