What are some good books for beginner object oriented programming? I am looking to start with C# or VB.net. I have some programming experience with scripting languages, however, have absolutely zero experience with OOP design patterns/theory.

I highly reccommend Learn Python the Hard Way by Zed. A. Shaw. It's a great book for beginners, but even if you're not a beginner this is still a great book. It doesn't waste time going into detail over every little thing. It takes the learning by example approach, by having you type out example scripts, interpret them via python, and dissect them. It's a free book, and it is downloadable on his site in PDF form. He's got a C++ version coming out soon too.
