Should I learn java?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

its all on your interest , java is one of the most used programming language so if you want to make your programming strong and flexible across platforms then learn it

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah, Java kicks retrice

OpenStudy (anonymous):

if you are starting to learn programming then first learn some simple and easy to learn language such as python but if you already know some language then go ahead and start learning java as it is very useful.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Learn C then C++ and Python, if you like then also learn some assembly, Java sucks, ditch it entirely

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it depends...... on what you study and what you want to become..... if you want to become a pro related to software and web ......learning java will help...... if not .....don't learn it........

OpenStudy (shadowfiend):

You should learn Java whenever you want or need to. Start with whatever language strikes your fancy, don't stop learning languages, and when the time comes to pick up Java, it'll be easy.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

if this is your first language, don't start with c++. You might pick up some bad habits, and its a high level language. give python or java a shot first. I'd recommend python. It's very elegant, and it forces you to check your work via the interpreter.

You may want to check out Stanford's Open Courseware course "Programming Methodology CS106A" which is taught in Java. http://see.stanford.edu
