how do you graph y=x^2-4

OpenStudy (anonymous):

First start off with you exp function then figure out if you are going to figure out how you want to shift, stretch, or skew your function based on the 2nd part "-4" so in this case your vertex will be located at -4 and will open up

It's a parabola with a vertex at -4. It can be easily visualized by placing some points on the line...do one for x=0 , x=2, x=-2, x=4, x=-4 Those should give you a good idea of the graph.
