help please something went wrong on my computer had too log out

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Have U Ever Seen Something called cacapupu? in openstudy

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no

OpenStudy (anonymous):

hmmm is this ur first time using openstudy?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yep

OpenStudy (anonymous):

tying to lean some math so I can take algebra to graduate

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok explain to me what happend with details and examplea!! :D

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thats cool

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so how do u turn 35/7 into a mixed or whole number

OpenStudy (anonymous):

? what does this have to do with fixing ur computer?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

A mixed number is a combination of a whole number and a fraction. For example, if you have two whole apples and one half apple, you could describe this as 2 + 1/2 apples, or 21/2 apples. Writing Mixed Numbers as Fractions This mixed number can also be expressed as a fraction. Each whole apple contains two half apples. Your two whole apples are also four half apples. Four half apples plus one half apple is five half apples. So you have 5/2 apples. To put this another way: to turn a mixed number into a fraction, multiply the whole number by the denominator (the bottom part), and add the result to the numerator (the top part). 21/2 = ? Multiply the whole number by the denominator. The whole number is 2. The denominator is 2. 2 x 2 = 4. Add the result to the numerator: The numerator is 1. 4 + 1 = 5 The numerator is 5. The denominator remains 2. 21/2 = 5/2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

o someone was helping me and the computer start acting up

OpenStudy (anonymous):

any strange activity?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

just not able to post wasn't moving don't know what happen

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what that do

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Click F5 Did that Work?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Refresh

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well now i no it did act better

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Slowbraincells: I thought you'd ditched me. :P Ok, so we were here: 1.5 is "one and a half" So we said that 1 + 1/2 = 1 and a half My last question was, "What is the denominator of 1/2"?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok then :D

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no

OpenStudy (anonymous):

need to learn

OpenStudy (anonymous):

learn what computers Stuf?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

right now Im trying to learn math

OpenStudy (anonymous):

count Me out!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Well, go ahead and answer my question, please. :P

OpenStudy (anonymous):

wers my friend

OpenStudy (anonymous):

2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

right

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Perfect! So what we want to do is replace the 1 in "1 + 1/2" with "?/2 + 1/2 =" What can we replace the ? with to get ?/2 = 1

OpenStudy (anonymous):

2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Does that make sense so far? This step is VERY important.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Good. So here's our equation: "2/2 + 1/2 = one and a half" Now... how do we add 2/2 + 1/2 ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

its a whole number right

OpenStudy (anonymous):

1+1/2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Well, we want to add it up to get an improper fraction, since we already know it's 1.5

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You know how to add fractions, right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sorry for got

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No problem. As long as the denominators are the same, we just add the numerators and put the answer over the original denominator. Are the denominators the same?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Good. So add the numerators for me.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

31/2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

right

OpenStudy (anonymous):

2/2+12= 3 1/2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

opps

OpenStudy (anonymous):

2/2+1/2=3 1/2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Just tell me what 1 + 2 is first.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

numerater

OpenStudy (anonymous):

spelled wrong but thats right right

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I meant like what 1 + 2 =

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You've gotta know how to add fractions, or else you can't do improper fractions. :(

OpenStudy (anonymous):

if I took 35/7 dont I multiply 7* the numerator which is 35 0r not

OpenStudy (anonymous):

We'll do that one later. For now just please tell me what 1+2 is

OpenStudy (anonymous):

3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

perfect.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Now what we do is we take that answer and put it over the denominator. So, our answer is 1.5 (or one and a half) equals 3/2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You can check this on a calculator if you want. 3/2 will say "1.5" which is equal to 1 1/2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ok, you wanna do 35/7 now?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It's really easy to be honest. FIrst thing you want to do is divide 35 by 7 and see if you have a remainder. Is there a remainder?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So what is our answer for 35 divided by 7?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

5

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Perfect! the fraction 35/7 is just 5. Now for one that's not so easy: 35/8

OpenStudy (anonymous):

First, what is the biggest number we can multiply the 8 by without going over 35?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

but the book dont have that answer

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Are you sure it said 35/7?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Wait a minute... Did you mean to say 3 5/7 ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

As in "3 and five sevenths"?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no 35/5

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh! That's 7 then. Is that what the book says?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

nope

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it has 4 answers

OpenStudy (anonymous):

What the... what does it say exactly, for 35/5?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

A 7 2/5 B7 2/7 C 8 2/5 D 6 2/5

OpenStudy (anonymous):

CHOOSE ONE

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Something's wrong with your book. :/ I can promise you that 35/7 is 5 and 35/5 is 7.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Absolutely none of these are correct. Something's wrong with the book or you're looking at the wrong problem.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ITS SAID MIX OR WHOL NUMBER

OpenStudy (anonymous):

WHAT i SAY ITS 37/5 SORRY TIRED BEEN TRYING ALL DAY

OpenStudy (anonymous):

U THERE

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I am

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Uber is funny

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OK KINDA GOT THAT

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No, I'm somebody else

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OH

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The answer is A

OpenStudy (anonymous):

FIG AS MUCH

OpenStudy (anonymous):

7 X 5 = 35 ; 35 + 2 = 37

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OK 5/16 =N/80 HOW WE DO THAT IT SAYS FIND N

OpenStudy (anonymous):

cross multiply

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You know how to do that?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

MEANIN

OpenStudy (anonymous):

NO

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Hmmm
