why can't be replace by diode with battery?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

not sure what the question means, but a diode is like a valve it allows current to flow in one direction only, [as long as you don't reach the breakdown voltage - see I/V characteristic of diode], a battery is similar with a cathode and anode terminal, and depending on how it's connected to a circuit will flow left or right (but always negative to positive). Now, if a diode is in place and you switch around the battery, obviously, the diode wont allow the current to flow if not connected correctly.

diode allows current through while batteries produce current. This question is like saying "why can't an heart be replaced by a vein"

or vice versa

i know dat diode has it 0.7 V then why cn't replace by battery ?
