OpenStudy (anonymous):

dhatraditya is right if I understand you correctly, because: 40 / 8 = 5 40 / 5 = 8

ok thanks

Or more specifically, 8 has 3 factors of 2, and 5 is prime. The LCM of 8 and 5 is the product of all the factors they share (none) and all of the factors they don't share (8 and 5) = 40.
