Write an expression for each of the following: 8 less than the quotient of x divided by 6

OpenStudy (anonymous):

8 - x/6

OpenStudy (anonymous):

8-(x/6)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I dislike the way they worded that.. 'the quotient of x divided by 6'

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Also I disagree with the answers you all gave.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

RIght- the minus 8 goes after

OpenStudy (saifoo.khan):

\[\Huge 8 < \frac{x}{6}\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

(x/6)-8

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No saifoo. that's not right either.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Bigger is not more correct.

OpenStudy (saifoo.khan):

Awww. :(

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The quotient of x and 6 is: (x/6) 8 less than that would be: (x/6) - 8

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I love this person's user name... I feel like she's complimenting me XD

OpenStudy (saifoo.khan):

why wont it be that?? i meant this sign: <

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Because it didn't state that it was an inequality. Inequalities use the < > signs.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

If it were an inequality it would be: 8 is less than the quotient of x and 6. But it was: 8 less than the quotient ... No 'is' therefore not inequality.

OpenStudy (saifoo.khan):

OIC.
