Combine the rational expressions and simplify: 3x/9y + 8/x

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I wrote it right.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Here we go. First we need a common denominator. 3x^2/9xy + 72y/9xy Now we can add the numerators \[(3x ^{2}+72y)/9xy\] Since all terms are divisible by 3 we can simplify. \[(x ^{2}+24y)/3xy\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

(x^2 +24y) /3yx.... do i need to slove d whole thing?? its easy.. just take lcm n solve.. thts it..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

That's what I get too. But it always says the answers I get like that are wrong. i think it has to do with the fact that it says combine AND simplify... Anyone know?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Simplify is reducing the terms in the expression, because they are all divisible by 3.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I will put in x^2+24y/3xy and see...
