1.2 sqrt 14255=sqrt 17106 correct?

OpenStudy (akshay_budhkar):

no the values of lhs and rhs are different. you an check it in a calci

OpenStudy (akshay_budhkar):

it should be sqrt 20527.2

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

You can't multiply 1.2 and the term inside the root (14255), so that's the correct answer. The only thing you can do here really is approximate it to get \[1.2\sqrt{14255}\approx 1.2\times119.3943 \approx 143.27316\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i thought i am suppsd to multiply the two?

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

You can only multiply the two if they BOTH sit under square roots. Otherwise, you can only use a calculator to approximate.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh wait thats when they are both sqrts.... i remembered!!!!

OpenStudy (akshay_budhkar):

lol!!

OpenStudy (akshay_budhkar):

you get it now right?
