Anybody know a good way to prepare for chem in college? Just trying to get prepared before school starts because I SUCK at chemistry...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well a good idea would be to review chem that you learned in highschool, but really what important is that when you are taking the class stay one step ahead of the professor. study the chapter that he is teaching the next class before it happens and try to REALLY understand every concept. not just like i did " i dont really get it but thats okay" in chem, everything builds on the previous concepts so make sure you understand everything. if you dont use your resourcres. Internet videos often exemplify the concept better than your professor or find a study buddy

OpenStudy (trancenova):

Yes I agree with tashz999, it is much easier to understand and learn the concepts if you review them before they are present to you. Also work out how you learn best and try to study in a way that helps you (Eg. by listening -> bring a recorder into class, reading -> textbook!, drawing -> draw out the problems etc).

OpenStudy (stmoney):

you'll probably start with learning what SI units are (metric units) then do dimentional analysis where you learn to convert standard units to metric units or convert metric units to other metric units (like meters to kilometers). Start with that.

Take advantage of tutoring if your college/university offers it. The tutors at my school are very helpful!
