Solve for k. F = kr Is the answer k=Fr or k=r/F?

OpenStudy (chaise):

k = F/r

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You simply rearrange the equation to get k = F/r

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thanks, guys!

OpenStudy (chaise):

Do you need help rearranging equations?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Why is it F/r and not r/F?

OpenStudy (chaise):

Your original question is: \[F = kr\] If we divide both left and right sides of the equal sign by 'r'. F gets divded by r, and the k and r get divded by r. Because there is a 'multiplication' between k and r we are able to cancle the division on the right hand side. Which lives us with: F/r = k

OpenStudy (diyadiya):

F=k*r when we bring r to opposite side it becomes division.. F/r=k

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh, I see. Ha, I was trying to move the k over, and then the F over. Totally wrong. I understand now. Thanks!
