Is anyone good at Algbera/ Algebra topics?

OpenStudy (chaise):

Very good - what can I help you with Jessica?

OpenStudy (saifoo.khan):

Who's bad @ them?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Um...me. I'm not that good at it. Thank you, Chaise. I'll post it here...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Better than geometry ;)

OpenStudy (chaise):

I'll do my best to answer

OpenStudy (anonymous):

What does the directions exactly state?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Saifoo, go away you make me feel stupid. The question is: Find the perimeter of the figure when x=1.7

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Just because your a genius and all....no offense, Saifoo...

OpenStudy (chaise):

The perimtre is: p = x + 2x + 2x Altogether we have 5x. P = 5x If x = 1.7 P = 5 x 1.7 P = 8.5 the perimetre when x = 1.7 is 8.6

OpenStudy (chaise):

Oooops. That should say 8.5 I hope I helped.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Um...how did you get 5? Is it because you added like terms, Chaise?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You just plug in 1.7 to x to each: 1.7(2) + 1.7(2) + 1.7

OpenStudy (chaise):

Yes, so the sides are two times as long as the base, and there is two sides. There is 2x along each side, there is two sides. There is also a base, which is x. If you add altogether you get 5x. Perimetre of the triangle = 5x The restrictions on the equation say x = 1.7 Perimetre = 5x Perimetre = 5x1.7 Perimetre = 8.5 Does this make sense?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh, um...yeah. It does make sense. I just got a little confused. Is there a equation for the triangle or is it 8.5 still yet?

OpenStudy (chaise):

There is an equation for a triangle, but it isn't used here. Do you want me to give you a similar question?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

.......yes,please.

OpenStudy (chaise):

An equalatral triangle has a perimetre of 12cm. Find the length of one side of the triangle?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

12/3 then?
