Are you able to cancle 65-x in the following fraction? (65-x)/(65-x)(65-x)+x^2-250 Are you able to cancle one of the top 65-x with the bottom one?

OpenStudy (mimi_x3):

Yup , you can :D

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes u can cancel it

OpenStudy (chaise):

Okay - I still need help. Assume I have this question

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes you can. you can cancel when there is multiplication, not addition.

OpenStudy (chaise):

I thoguht so cos^-1((65-x)/(65-x)(65-x)+x^2-250) We cancel one of the 65-x we get: cos^-1(1/65-x+x^2-250) We gather like terms? cos^-1(1/x^2-x-185) Use the quadratic formula to solve for x. you get two answers of 94 degrees and 86 degrees? Can someone pls double check?

OpenStudy (chaise):

When solving for x in the denominator you get: x = (1-sqrt(741))/2 x = 1+sqrt(741)/2 cos^-1(1/x) = 86 and 94?

OpenStudy (mimi_x3):

Sorry Chaise, I don't know. Hopefully, someone else can help you (:

OpenStudy (mimi_x3):

But your answers seem right xD

OpenStudy (chaise):

Okay - thank you anyway.
