What is the equations to find slop and y-intercept?

OpenStudy (aroub):

there is a formula to find the slope... but if u want to find the slope and they y-intercept from a line then u use y=mx+b , where m is the slope and b is the y-intercept

OpenStudy (aroub):

this is the formula for the slope : (x1.y1) and ( x2.y2) y2-y1/ x2-x1

OpenStudy (amistre64):

the slope intercept equation is commonly denoted as: y=mx+b

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So if it was 2x+ 4y= 22 I would go 4+m(2)+b?

OpenStudy (amistre64):

no; just algebra it to solve for y

OpenStudy (amistre64):

and i did the math wrong .... just a little bit tho :)

OpenStudy (amistre64):

2x+ 4y= 22 ; /4 /4 /4 ----------- x/2 + y = 22/4 ; subtract off the x/2 -x/2 -x/2 -------------- y = -x/2 +22/4 is better

OpenStudy (amistre64):

if you want it more neater: \[y = \frac{-2x+22}{4}\] works fine

OpenStudy (anonymous):

is that all I have to do?

OpenStudy (amistre64):

yes, the slope intercept form is simply; solve the equation for "y"

Thank you:)
