sinθcos^2 θ+sin^3=sinθ Only allowed to work on one side

OpenStudy (amistre64):

work the left then

OpenStudy (anonymous):

how should i go about doing this?

OpenStudy (amistre64):

factor out a sin

OpenStudy (amistre64):

sinθcos^2 θ + sin^3 θ = sin θ sinθ (cos^2 θ + sin^2 θ) = sin θ

OpenStudy (amistre64):

what does: cos^2 + sin^2 equal as an identity?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

im actually not sure, I completely don't understand trig identities

OpenStudy (anonymous):

1?

OpenStudy (amistre64):

1 is correct soo.. sin θ (1) = sin θ sin θ = sin θ is prolly the easiest way to do it; another way is to change cos^2

OpenStudy (amistre64):

if cos^2 + sin^2 = 1; then cos^2 = 1-sin^2 right?

OpenStudy (amistre64):

sin cos^2 +sin^3 = sin sin (1 - sin^2) +sin^3 = sin sin - sin^3 +sin^3 = sin sin = sin

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh alright, you really helped a lot! thanks!

OpenStudy (amistre64):

youre welcome, trig is like 98% memorizing stuff that youll never really use :)
