How do you solve: 6 is greater than or equal to - 2/3d

OpenStudy (anonymous):

6 ≥ -2/3 d multiply both sides by -3/2 -9 ≤ d Notice I flipped the sign at the end. Anytime you multiply or divide by a negative number always flip the sign.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thank you, but why do you multiply by -3/2 instead of -2/3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

because I wanted to get rid of the -2/3 so I multiplied by its reciprocal.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh okay thank

OpenStudy (anonymous):

how would multiplying -2/3 by -3/2 look like

OpenStudy (anonymous):

anytime you multiply by the reciprocal of a number you get 1 -2/3*-3/2 so multiply the numerators and denominators to get 6/6 (negative times negative is positive) this simplifies to 1
