4x-5=4x+10

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no solution

OpenStudy (anonymous):

there is no way that 4x - 5 can also be 4x + 10

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Were supposed to solve for X

OpenStudy (anonymous):

whatever x is, it must be the same on both sides of the equal sign, and you cannot subtract 5 from a number, add 10 to the same number, and get the two sides equal

OpenStudy (anonymous):

suppose i pick x = 10 then \[4\times 10-5=40-5=35\] and \[4\times 10+10=40+10=50\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no matter what you pick for x, 4x will be the same on both sides, so you cannot find an answer to this one

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Then why the hell is it in my math book lol

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It is in there to show you that not all equation have solutions. You can figure this out by working the equation out. 4x -5 = 4x + 10 4x -4x -5 = 4x-4x +10 0-5 = 0 +10 -5 = 10 we know -5 does not equal 10 so this equation has no solution

OpenStudy (anonymous):

to see if you were paying attention

OpenStudy (anonymous):

if you subtract 4x from both sides you will get - 5 = 10 then what????
