5x+6y<30

I don't understand

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay, first of all can you tell me the question? What are you supposed to find or do?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

graph the inequality on a plane 5x+6y\[\le\]30

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay good do you understand the mathematical procedure then. I first of all subtracted 5x from both sides of the equation and then divided by 6 so your inequality will look like this: \[y \le \frac{-5}{6}x + 5 \]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay when you graph this inequality on a plane what you are looking are values of y that are less than your line. To make it easier thing of the y - axis okay wherever your line touches the y - axis the inequality is less than or equal to so from that point or solutions must be less than that value. So you will shade the region or space below the line when you graph it. I'm assuming you know how to graph the line.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sorry to say no ..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

hmm..okay I'll do my best to draw the line for you. But the quick way to do it is to identify the y - intercept which in this case is 5. Also because of a negatives slope your line will be in downward direction(think of climbing down the stairs.
