how do i factor 6u^2-7uv-5v^2 ? im not sure how to work it because of the two variables

OpenStudy (anonymous):

perhaps it would be easier, since both variables annoy you, if you factored \[6u^2-7u-5\] first

OpenStudy (anonymous):

factors as \[u^2-7u-5=(2u+1)(3u-5)\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

then just stick in the v to get \[(2u+v)(3u-5v)\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

as long as the first step was ok, then the next one (adding the v) should be ok yes?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thank you ! you made it much easier

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oops a typo i meant \[6u^2-7u-5=(2u+1)(3u-5)\] i forgot the 6 in front
