The center of a circle is located at the midpoint of the line segment connecting the points (-6,-8) and ( 1/2, 4). Find the coordinates of the center of the circle, the exact (no decimal approximation) radius of the circle and the equation of the circle in standard form.

|dw:1315248114943:dw| the center of the circle is on the midpoint of the line AB

OpenStudy (anonymous):

that means A and B lie on the circle.. use mid point formula to get the coordinates of the center. use distance formula to calculate the radius

So, I figured the midpoint to be (-2.75,-2). When I tried to do the distance part to calculate the radius, I got \[\sqrt{112.56}\]. Given that it stated we need to give an exact (no decimal approximation) radius... I don't know where to go from there...
