What would be a good experiment involving bee flight? I'm in a Comparative Biomechanics class, and we need to do a research project. My group would like to do something with bee flight, but we're not sure what type of questions ask. I'm worried that it would be too boring to just ask "How do bees fly", but I'm not sure what else to do.

gene knockout and effects on navigation skills. visual manipulation (light wave lengths. repetitive landscape) and effects on flying

I think that the interesting implication of bee flight is that it is a manipulation of turbulence, right? What if you inverted bee flight? Instead of seeing it as a way to create lift through turbulence, look at it as a way to absorb energy from turbulence? As in a way to translate turbulence mechanically into energy electrically, perhaps. Sounds like a fun class.

i would have to agree with ttom, but i love mario capecchi.

Here's a good one: Catch 6 bees and put them in your freezer until they stop moving. Then quickly take them out and glue their feet to a popsicle stick. Voila! Bee-mobile!|dw:1315357914032:dw|
