You have a piece of paper, 10cm by 10cm. Area = 100cm^2. For some reason, you need a square piece of paper with an area of 50cm^2. Using the paper you have, what's an easy way of getting the new square? show your solution>.,

OpenStudy (chaise):

Fold it in half.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

good..heres the correct answer.. Try it with a piece of paper, doesn't matter the size of the square, try to find a square half its size inside it.

OpenStudy (mimi_x3):

LOL, is that easy ? wtf

OpenStudy (mimi_x3):

is it*

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Fold the four corners of the square into the centre. This doubles the thickness of the paper, and so halves the area. thats the answer..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

lol mimi

OpenStudy (chaise):

No - it's not that easy. Once you fold it in half, it becomes a rectangle, although if you want to be technical, a rectangle is a square.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Fold it in half once, 100x50 Fold it in half again, 50x50

OpenStudy (mimi_x3):

Oh gawd , that's all, i thought you have to show working out xD Gawd , Im stupid xD

OpenStudy (anonymous):

haha
