what is functional value and rad? function : Sin30'

Ok. So if you're going to need help with this long term I reccomend that you learn the unit circle. Lets start by converting 30' to rad. Each 30' on the unit circle is an additional pi/6 rads, so pi/6. So now what's the value of sin(pi/6)? First off, sin basically refers to the height of a point on the unit circle. So we know that we are looking for the length of the opposite leg of a right triangle whose hypotenuse is 1 and has a 30' angle. If you think back to your triangles (30 60 90) triangles, youll remember that the ration of the hypotenuse to the short side is 1/2. This is exactly what the question is asking, as sin is the ratio of the side opposite an angle to the hypotenuse of the triangle in which the angle is located. so .5
